Field Notes to Freedom: A Study through Galatians
Paul’s letter to the Galatians is a very clear portrayal of what it means to be a church that truly lives by the gospel. But why the focus on freedom?
We live in a country in a moment in history that is obsessed with freedom. America is the “land of the free.” People are clamoring for personal, sexual, familial, occupational, and relational freedom. And for most people, that means “no one gets to tell me what to do, I’m going to do what I want. And what I want to do is what feels good to me.”
According to God, that’s not freedom. According to God, that’s actually a form of slavery. The gospel has some things to say about freedom. And in Galatians, Paul is going to help us understand what it means to truly be free.
